Maryellen Crocker

Maryellen Crocker is the co-founder and director of Gracie's Kitchen, a role she has held since its inception in 2010. She is involved in every aspect of running the organization and serving those in need in Nassau County. For more than a decade, Maryellen has worked behind the scenes organizing, planning, procuring supplies, and handling paperwork to successfully manage the non-profit. As the spokesperson for Gracie’s Kitchen, she can be found throughout the community educating people on the needs of the underserved.

In addition to her managerial duties, she can often be found in the kitchen leading and cooking alongside five meal service teams. Through her guidance and passion for helping to feed those facing food insecurity and homelessness in Nassau County, she has forged many friendships among her various volunteer groups and the wider community. When asked why she is so passionate about this work, Maryellen said, "I feel I have a threefold mission as Director of Gracie's Kitchen. That mission is to offer our guests a wholesome meal in a happy environment, to provide our teams with good leadership, and to give those in the community the opportunity to do good."

Pat and Gary Janco

Pat and Gary Janco have been faithful volunteers at Gracie's Kitchen since 2013. They have served in various capacities, but their passion for pets led them to create and manage a pet food ministry for Gracie's families. Together they collect donations, organize pet food drives, purchase supplies, manage inventory, repackage food, distribute pet food and canvass Nassau County in search of other pet friendly supporters. Pat and Gary extend the love and efforts of Gracie’s Kitchen to the furry family members of our clients. They believe that the unconditional love that all pets give is a much-needed nourishment for the souls of their owners. Their ultimate goal is to reach out with a helping paw to our furry clients. If you’ve ever met Pat, you’ve probably heard her say "We can't save the world, but we can change the world for one pet at a time." This is a message they live by and graciously serve our clients through their pet ministry.
